Annual Fund
What is
Annual Fund?
Keep the Spirit of Wonder Alive!
Our Annual Campaign provides a dependable and
necessary source of financial operating support for the school. Tuition
does not fully cover the costs of a Jewish day school education at any
Jewish day school, and the Annual Fund supports the school’s greatest
needs and priorities and helps maintain our standards of excellence.
Gifts to the Annual Fund help JCDS-RI to maintain a
supportive academic community that offers:
-
a rigorous, balanced curriculum in both general
and Judaic studies
-
small class sizes and individualized attention
for every student
-
a creative music and art program
-
varied classroom supplies available to all
students
-
an always-expanding library
-
outreach and volunteer activities that enrich
the lives of our students and the larger community
Giving to JCDS-RI is an act of faith – faith in our
school, faith in our religious tradition of tzedakah, and faith in our
students. Annual Giving supports our mission and helps make a Jewish Day
School education possible for all of our families. The Annual Fund
sustains many of the qualities that parents value most about our school:
a warm, nurturing environment for our children; a strong foundation in
Jewish history that fosters a sense of cultural identity; and individual
attention from a dedicated and well-educated faculty who truly enjoy
teaching.
Helping to fund an academic environment like the one
at JCDS-RI is an investment in our children’s and grandchildren’s
future. A gift to the Annual Fund is a vote of confidence in the value
of a Jewish Day School education. Please add your support for our
school! You can contribute online or send a
check to the school at 85 Taft Avenue, Providence, RI 02906. For more

Why is
tuition not enough?
Generally speaking, all private schools
have a gap between the cost of tuition and actual budget costs. JCDSRI
is no different. Annual Fund allows us to keep the cost of tuition down
so that a Jewish education from JCDSRI is accessible to a diverse
population. Private schools rely on tuition, endowment income and
fundraising proceeds to meet their operating expenses.
Who
contributes to Annual Fund?
The JCDSRI community is diverse and we
rely on funds from many different groups, including current and past
parents, alumni and former students, current and past grandparents,
faculty, staff and friends of the greater Jewish community.
Why should I
give?
Support of the Annual Fund shows that we
support the overall mission and goals of the school. Our goal is to have
100% participation by our current families, Board members, faculty and
staff.
How much should I give?
Gifts may range from $18 on up -- this
could mean providing school supplies to providing tuition for a child in
need of financial aid. Participation should be appropriate for each
donor’s personal circumstances. Every gift will make a difference in the
life of a JCDSRI student. Pledges should be made and paid by the end of
our fiscal year on June 30th as the money is immediately directed to the
current fiscal year. Please check if your company participates in the
corporate match program or call Eileen Ellis, Executive Assistant at
401.751.2470 or eellis@jcdsri.org
