Director of Judaic Studies

We are looking for an exceptional dynamic professional to lead our Judaic studies department at the school.

The position will include:

• Participating in the vision and mission of the school as a Jewish Community Day school.

• Creating a multi-denominational innovative curriculum (The school is in a transition from a Solomon Schechter school to a Jewish Community Day school).

• Creating family education programs.

• Exercising responsibility for the school Jewish calendar including events, programs and special activities around holidays.

• Mentoring and coaching the Judaic teachers at the school.

• Engaging the parent community and the larger RI Jewish community in different Jewish programs and activities.

The successful candidate will have a proven record in developing, implementing, and managing Judaic curriculum and programs. The candidate will possess:

• Experience in classroom teaching, curriculum development, and school administration.

• Appropriate credentials in Jewish studies: ideally a post-graduate degree and/or rabbinic ordination.

• Vast knowledge of, and passion for, Jewish day school curricula, materials, and programs.

• Strong knowledge and background in Jewish studies (e.g. liturgy, bible, traditions and holidays).

• Strong interpersonal skills, team work and leadership abilities.
