The main principles of the General Studies
program of the JCDSRI should reflect the mission statement and main
principles of JCDSRI.
As a result, the General Studies program will
reflect the unique vision and goals of the JCDSRI as well as utilize
the best practices and pedagogical approaches in schooling.

The following principles reflect the unique vision and mission of
JCDSRI:

Believes in an integrated, thematic approach to learning (within
and between General Studies and Judaic Studies). Encourages
cross-disciplinary teaching and learning. Stresses weaving together
ancient, modern and postmodern texts, Jewish and General
Studies, into an integrated whole.

Values creating a learning environment that inspires wonder and
awe in both Judaic and General Studies. Believes in acknowledging and
encouraging the role of Jewish values and models in all subjects.

Reflecting this commitment to an integrated model, JCDSRI believes
in providing faculty and staff significant time to plan as a team with
lead-teacher support.

Values creating a strong sense of community and care between all
members and models the community that our students will build as
adults.
The following principles reflect the Jewish Community Day School of
RI’s commitment to academic excellence:

Believes that how we learn and what we learn are equally
important. Encourages investigative and critical thinking skills and
imaginative and creative thinking skills. Utilizes multiple learning
strategies.
