Mrs. Irene (Renee) Rudnick Hired as
Head of School
Dear JCDS Community,
I am very pleased to announce that we have hired
Mrs. Irene (Renee) Rudnick to the newly-created position of Assistant
Head of School, beginning in July. She will work closely with me in all
areas of running the school and will particularly focus on the quality
of our Judaic and Hebrew programs (along with Ruti Adler--Hebrew
Coordinator), and their integration into the overall culture of the
school as well as into the general studies curriculum in our
newly-configured Pre-Kindergarten through Fifth Grade program. In the
initiative to streamline the administrative structure of the school,
Renee and I will be located in the Ross Building along with our strong
support staff of Naomi, Sue Sugerman, Vicki, Peter and Eileen. Harshita
Lakhiani will run the business office. As mentioned in previous
announcements, the separate administrative office building will no
longer be used, with the intended results of a closer-knit structure and
a reduction in expenses.
Renee will bring incredible strength to our school.
First of all, she is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Goucher College, with
a major in elementary education and a minor in mathematics. She also has
an M.A. in Near Eastern Judaic Studies from Brandeis University. Her
many experiences include having been a teacher of 3rd and 4th grades in
the public schools of Marblehead, Massachusetts, along with having been
a teacher of 5th and 6th grades at the New Jewish Academy in Worcester,
Massachusetts. At that same institution, she was also the math
coordinator as well as family educator where she planned and implemented
innovative, interactive, family education programs. She has been a
recipient of the prestigious Grinspoon-Steinhardt National Award for
Excellence in Jewish Education. She is respected for being a highly
effective practitioner of differentiated instruction as well as having
an exceptional blend of professional teaching skills with a love of her
students. If all weren’t enough, she has been an active officer and
chairperson for several Jewish community organizations. One of her
leadership roles included being the President of the Board of Trustees
for the Solomon Schechter Day School in Worcester, Massachusetts.
We are excited to have Renee join us here at JCDS,
and I personally look forward to working with her. Our goal remains
simple: we want you and the larger Jewish community of the area to have
a school that takes excellence in Jewish education as elementary!
I look forward to welcoming Renee to our school and
having you get to know her.
Warmly,
Bob Sarkisian
