Robert Sarkisian to Become Head of the JCDS
June 15, 2008
Dear JCDS Teachers, Staff and Administrators,
As President of the JCDS, I have very exciting news
that I would like to share with you. I am very pleased to announce that
an offer has been extended and graciously accepted by L. Robert (Bob)
Sarkisian to become the Head of the JCDS for the 2008-2009 academic
year.
Many members of our community, including school
personnel and parents, have met with Bob during the search process and
found him to be a charismatic and effective leader and accomplished
educator and administrator. His appointment as Head of School was
unanimously endorsed by our Board of Directors.
For those who did not have an opportunity to meet
with Bob, his experience with private schools is extensive. As
Headmaster for the past 28 years at The Meadowbrook School located in a
suburb of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he led efforts that increased
enrollment 81%, coordinated four capital campaigns and improved
endowment funding while the school earned numerous academic accolades.
For more information about Bob’s accomplishments, please “google”
Meadowbrook School, PA and visit
www.themeadowbrookschool.org.
Prior to his position as Headmaster of The
Meadowbrook School, Bob was Headmaster at The Harford School near
Baltimore and a Director and Founder of the Middle Schools at Wilbraham
& Monson Academy and the Oak Lane Day School. He has combined headmaster
experience of 32 years. His educational credentials include a Masters in
Educational Leadership from Arcadia University, M.S. equivalent from
Temple University and a B.A. from Colgate. Additionally, Bob has also
served on several prestigious educational advisory boards and was a
consultant for educational programs for Pfizer Medical Systems.
Bob, and his wife, Sally, a former elementary school
teacher, have resided in the Greater Philadelphia area for the past 28
years. They have two grown children, Aram and Caitlin, who reside in
Pennsylvania and Virginia, respectively. In the coming month, Bob and
Sally will be securing residential accommodations in Providence. In the
very near future, we will be hosting a reception for Bob to welcome him
to our community. Once we have the precise date and time, we will let
you know.
I am sure that you recognize that this is a very
important first step and there remains much to be done. To be
successful, Bob will certainly need the support of the entire community.
More importantly, he is going to need the full support of each and every
member of our school. There is a great deal of work that needs to be
done. Our academic standards need to be raised, our parents need to
recognize the vibrancy and value of our school, our organizational
structure must be sound and efficient, and our environment must be one
that continues to attract new students. There is no administrator that
can accomplish this in a vacuum. We believe that Bob has the vision,
leadership and administrative skills to lead our school. We believe our
teachers, staff and administrators have the talent, desire and strength
of dedication to guide his success.
I cannot emphasize enough how excited we are with
this news. I would like to thank Gloria Feibish and her team for their
hard work and successful outcome in securing a talented and capable
individual. As important, I extend my continued appreciation to our
dedicated administrators, staff and teachers for their ongoing support.
We look forward to great things!
I hope to see you at the reception to introduce Bob
to our community.
Respectfully,
Bruce A. Wolpert
President, Board of Trustees
