PA's Mishloach Manot Program-Thank You!
purim hamThe PA would like to thank all of the volunteers who helped assemble and distribute the Mishloach Manot bags. Thanks to all of you, the event was a total success and everyone enjoyed the goodies! One quick note...some people have inquired if their names made it onto the group card in the Mishloach Manot bags because their names did not appear on their child(ren)'s cards. Please be assured that if you paid to have your name on the bags for the entire school community, then your name appeared on all of the bags except your own child(ren)'s. This has been the format since we began the program.
Shabbat Shalom!

Names, Names and More!
Naming Signs
The Kindergarten class did a beautiful job at their naming ceremony on Wednesday, March, 12. Each child worked very hard to prepare for the ceremony where they sang an English name song, as well as sang and danced to beautiful Hebrew songs. The class demonstrated that they not only learned about the significance and origin of their own names, but also about the names of many things including the Hebrew days of the week, parts of the body, letters and more!

Off to Boston

boston 2Our fifth grade American Revolution researchers took a "Walk Into History" historical tour along the famous Freedom Trail red line with an 18th century costumed guide. They heard the tales of the brave Bostonians and Colonialists who dared to challenge Britain and helped establish the greatest democracy in the world. Students especially liked the Old State House with the remarkable statues and history. More Info
bostom museum
Later the students visited the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston to tour the exhibit "Walk this Way" a footwear exhibit dispersed throughout the museum. The collection featured shoes from ancient Egypt to contemporary designs like Nike. Students went on a treasure hunt in the galleries to find the shoe exhibits placed among paintings, sculptures and furniture that are from the same time era. Last semester the fifth grade created "shoes" in our Art Studio. Students were accompanied by Bethany Rafail, 5th Grade teacher, Jen Bend, Art teacher and Dani Steiner, Head of School.

Welcome Yael Krieger, our Pardes Intern
We are pleased to tell you that, for the second year in a row, our school will be part of the Pardes Educators Program.  The Pardes program is a two-year graduate program in Jerusalem in which students study traditional Jewish texts, Hebrew language and pedagogy.  As part of this program, students complete a three week student teaching experience in North America.
Yael Krieger, a second year student in the Pardes program, will be interning in our school from March 24 - April 11. Yael will be teaching Humash and other text related materials in Grades 4, 5 and 6.  An alumna of the Schechter school in West Hartford, she is a graduate of the Joint Program of Columbia University and the Jewish Theological Seminary's List College. In addition, Yael has a special connection to Providence:  She is the granddaughter of Cele and the late Seymour Krieger, both of whom have had such a wonderful connection with the Jewish community of Providence for decades!  Join us in welcoming her into our school community. (remarks from Marcia Kaunfer's Introductory Letter)
