Student Life
From soccer games to food drives, co-
curricular activities are an important part
of student life at JCDSRI. We encourage our
students to express their personalities and
interests through their co- curricular
experiences.
The
After School Program offers several
clubs such as Book Buddies, Woodworking, and
Knitting.
Community Service is integrated
throughout the grades. For Thanksgiving, the
students collect tzedakah for the Rhode
Island Community Food Bank. At Hanukkah,
Grade two performs for the residents of
Tamarisk Assisted Living. Because of our successful
participation in their Good Deeds Program,
we are a Feinstein Leader School. Read our
Feinstein Newsletter.
We
are implementing the nationally recognized, award winning social
curriculum, The Social Decision Making/Problem Solving Program
developed by Maurice Elias Ph.D. (Professor, Rutgers University) and
John F. Clubby Ph.D. (Robert Wood Johnson Medical School). This program
uses research validated skill building methods to promote good
citizenship through teaching children the skills the need for effective
social decision making. The overall goal of the program is to provide
students in grades PreK – 8, with skills to make healthy and responsible
choices in their lives. If you are interested in hearing more about the
SDM/PS program, please contact Betsy Cable at

Our school offers special trips and is
especially proud of 8th Grade’s annual
trip to Israel. Other trips include an
overnight at the Boston Museum of Science,
environmental and group-building camping
trips at Camp Teva in Connecticut and
University of Rhode Island Alton Jones
Campus in Rhode Island, and the annual trip
to New York and Washington for Grade 7.
